CDU’s Günther Demands Left Party Leader Pantisano Resigns Amid ‘Fascism’ Accusations

Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister-President, Daniel Günther (CDU), is calling for the resignation of Luigi Pantisano, the newly elected co-chief of the Left Party (Linkspartei).

Speaking to the “Bild,” Günther stated forcefully that anyone who equates the CDU with fascists and the AfD has disqualified themselves from any serious democratic exchange. He described this as something that is historically regrettable. Günther added that someone like Pantisano cannot be a credible interlocutor for democratic citizens and urged him to step away from politics as soon as possible.

This demand comes after Pantisano told the “Bild” over the weekend that he wants to keep the CDU from gaining power in the East German states, alleging that the CDU is engaging in “fascist politics.”
