CSU state‑group leader Alexander Hoffmann has urged the Social Democrats to show flexibility on the federal tariff‑loyalty law, which has been under parliamentary consideration since October.
“We are already seeing early signs that our measures are beginning to take effect and the economy is gaining momentum again” Hoffmann said. “Therefore, we must not enact policies that are anti‑productive. Excessive bureaucracy and overly restrictive requirements stifle business activity. The same principles must apply to the tariff‑loyalty law. The legislation should not become a bureaucratic monster with insane reporting obligations” he told the newspapers of “Mediengruppe Bayern”.
He added that the bill is not a Union initiative but “a project from the SPD that we need to shape into a workable coalition proposal”. Hoffmann clarified that the law should not apply to suppliers. “It is also important that delivery services are exempt. Excluding supply services is vital to prevent hampering the domestic economy, as EU law would preclude the regulation from applying to foreign delivery services. We must not create a supply‑chain law 2.0” the CSU politician said.
