Czech President Spotted as Secret Photographer at Grand Prix

The Czech Republic’s President Petr Pavel made a surprising and low-key appearance as a motorsport photographer at a Grand Prix event over the weekend.

The 63-year-old was spotted by press photographers on Sunday at the MotoGP race in Brno, positioned at the edge of the track and dressed casually while wielding a professional telephoto lens. A spokesperson later confirmed that Pavel’s attendance was entirely private and not an official visit.

President Pavel is a known enthusiast of motorsports and also demonstrates a passion for high-end photographic equipment. Earlier this year, he traveled to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Dakar Rally, camping amongst spectators. Photographs he captured during the event were subsequently showcased at the National Technical Museum in Prague.
