By 2030, Deutsche Bahn plans to invest four billion euros annually in renovating older train stations. Evelyn Palla, the CEO of Deutsche Bahn, stated to the Funke Media Group’s newspapers (Saturday editions) that “there will be over 20 billion euros in investments over the next five years. Clearly, we have a significant backlog to address”. According to the company, over 1,000 stations are slated for modernization this year alone. Furthermore, a total of 710 train stations across Germany are planned for fundamental renovation by 2030, with 130 of these expected to be renovated by 2026. The primary focus will be on enhancing the appearance of the main reception buildings. In addition, an extra 50 million euros will be allocated to train stations to improve safety and cleanliness.
