Domestic Stays Inch Up in February 2026

In February 2026, accommodation providers in Germany recorded 27.7 million overnight stays from both domestic and international guests. According to provisional figures released on Monday by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this figure represents a 3.3 percent increase compared to February 2025.

Specifically, the number of overnight stays for domestic guests rose by 3.4 percent to 22.6 million. Meanwhile, international guest stays grew by 2.5 percent, reaching 5.1 million.

Looking at the period from January to February 2026, accommodation providers booked a total of 53.2 million overnight stays. This marked a 2.2 percent improvement over the same period last year, although it fell short of the record high of 56.8 million stays recorded for this period in 2020. For the January to February period, domestic guest stays increased by 2.3 percent compared to the previous year, totaling 43.8 million. International guest stays saw a 1.5 percent rise, amounting to 9.4 million.
