The head of IG Metall, Christiane Benner, has voiced cautious support for a recent investment initiative launched by German industry, while simultaneously urging participating corporations to temper expectations.
Benner, speaking to the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, acknowledged the merits of the plan, stating that strengthening infrastructure, bolstering the economy and safeguarding employment represent a positive direction. She suggested that companies relocating operations, impacting jobs and contributing to industrial challenges should take note of this approach.
However, she cautioned against unrealistic assumptions. Benner emphasized that businesses should not anticipate receiving unearned concessions or a lack of obligations in exchange for investment commitments. She stressed the importance of a balanced and mutually beneficial relationship between industry and the broader socioeconomic landscape.
