The 27th round of the Bundesliga ended on Saturday night with Borussia Dortmund turning a 0‑2 deficit against Hamburger SV into a 3‑2 victory.
From the outset, the HSV were the stronger side. They used their chances efficiently and gained an early lead when Philip Otele struck in the 19th minute. In the 38th minute Albert Lokonga doubled the advantage, putting Hamburg ahead 2‑0.
Dortmund struggled in the first half, losing the ball and converting few opportunities, so the game seemed bleak for the visitors. However, the German side’s fighting spirit returned in the second half. In the 73rd minute Ramy Bensebaini earned the equaliser from the penalty spot after William Mikelbrencis fouled a striker. Five minutes later Serhou Guirassy restored the visitors’ lead, making it 2‑1. A further penalty at the 84th minute, again converted by Bensebaini, settled the match with a 3‑2 final score.
The win is a crucial step for Dortmund in their race for second place in the table and delays Bayern Munich’s title celebrations. Despite a strong first half, the HSV finish the match without a point and remain in 11th place.
