Dortmund Stuns Monterrey Advances to Club World Cup Quarterfinals

Borussia Dortmund advanced to the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over CF Monterrey of Mexico. The match saw a dominant first half performance from Dortmund, spearheaded by a brace from Serhou Guirassy in the 14th and 24th minutes.

However, the German side faced increased pressure in the second half as Monterrey emerged with renewed energy after the break. German Berterame pulled a goal back for the Mexican team in the 48th minute, setting up a tense final period.

Dortmund’s defense, led by goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, stood firm to protect their slender lead. Kobel made several crucial saves to deny Monterrey an equalizer. Despite sustained efforts from the Mexican team, Borussia Dortmund held on for the 2-1 win, securing their place in the quarter-finals. They will now face Real Madrid on Saturday.
