Drone Sightings Disrupt Danish Airports

Multiple airports and a military airbase in Denmark experienced drone sightings overnight into Thursday, prompting temporary disruptions and heightened security concerns. Authorities reported incidents at the airports of Aalborg, Esbjerg and Sønderborg, as well as a Royal Danish Air Force base.

Aalborg Airport was briefly closed as a precautionary measure. Police confirmed the last confirmed sighting of an active drone occurred around 1:00 AM. Officials stated that they were unable to intercept or disable the drones. A search for the individual or group operating the drones is currently underway.

This latest incident follows a similar disruption earlier this week when Copenhagen Airport was closed for several hours due to the presence of unidentified drones. The previous event prompted a statement from Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who described it as the most significant attack to date on critical infrastructure within Denmark. The recurring issue highlights vulnerabilities in the nation’s security posture and is likely to trigger a review of existing protocols and potential upgrades to surveillance and defense systems.
