The United Nations expressed deep alarm over the escalating attacks in Sudan, stating that air strikes are putting civilians at great risk and directly targeting humanitarian and public infrastructure. Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary‑General António Guterres, highlighted these concerns.
According to information from the Sudan Doctors Network, a drone strike on Wednesday morning hit a mosque in Al‑Rahad, a city in North Kordofan. The attack reportedly killed two children and injured 13 others. The night before, another drone strike struck an elementary school in Dilling, South Kordofan. In addition, rockets damaged a World Food Programme warehouse in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan.
Dujarric warned that these attacks endanger civilians, including humanitarian workers. He stressed that civilians and civilian infrastructure-such as schools, places of worship, and humanitarian facilities-must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law. He called on all parties to ensure quick, safe, unobstructed, and permanent access for humanitarian aid so that lifesaving assistance can reach those in need throughout Sudan.
