German federal minister of economic affairs, Katherina Reiche (CDU), has taken steps to deepen ties with Israel. During a video conference with her Israeli counterpart Nir Barkat, the minister agreed to closer cooperation. According to the German newspaper “Welt am Sonntag”, the collaboration will include a stronger partnership in the security and defense industry. The ministries also plan to expand economic work on geostrategic projects, notably the India‑Middle‑East‑Europe Economic Corridor, as announced by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs. Additionally, both governments intend to create a regular German‑Israeli business forum. The ministry stressed that, especially in hard times, friends should stand together and increase their cooperation.
