During the Saturday night of the 22nd matchday in the second division, Dynamo Dresden suffered a 1-2 defeat at home to Elversberg.
Dresden began the game with vigor and took an early lead. In the 12th minute Alexander Rossipal struck a long-range shot into the top corner to make it 1-0. The team led for most of the first half and even saw Jason Ceka score, but the goal was annulled after a VAR check revealed a slight off‑side. Throughout the opening period, the Saxons appeared more present and controlled, while Elversberg managed only sporadic threat in front of the goal.
After the half‑time break the dynamics shifted in favour of Elversberg. Nicholas Mickelson equalised in the 58th minute, curling a long ball into the opposite corner from a well‑placed shot. In the closing stages the visitors turned the match around again. A quick reaction by Lukas Petkov in the 78th minute gave the away side a 2-1 advantage.
In the frantic final minutes Dynamo pushed everything forward, earning good chances. Christoph Daferner almost levelled the score from a close range, but the goal did not count. An additional Elversberg goal in added time was cancelled for a handball after a VAR review. With eight minutes of stoppage time and several high balls into the box, Dynamo failed to score any further.
Overall Elversberg displayed a noticeable improvement in the second half, exploiting their chances efficiently, while Dresden held strong throughout most of the match but lacked the finishing needed in the finale.
