The Federal Statistical Office stated on Wednesday that the inflation rate in Germany is projected to reach 3.3 percent in September, based on an estimate. Compared to August, prices rose by 0.6 percent. The core inflation rate-which excludes food and energy-is consequently forecast to be 2.4 percent in September. A major contributing factor to overall price increases was energy. The cost of energy alone rose 14.9 percent year-over-year. Statisticians noted that the increase in energy prices stood at 10.5 percent in August and 8.3 percent in July.
