The foreign ministers of Germany, France and the United Kingdom have jointly condemned the Israeli attacks on September 9th, expressing concerns raised during a meeting in Doha. In a statement released Friday, Johann Wadephul (CDU), Jean-Noel Barrot and Yvette Cooper highlighted the attacks as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a potential catalyst for further regional escalation.
The ministers cautioned that such actions jeopardize ongoing efforts to secure a negotiated agreement, critical to ensuring the release of all remaining hostages and bringing an end to the conflict in Gaza. They urged all parties involved to redouble their efforts towards an immediate cessation of hostilities.
“We express our solidarity with Qatar and fully support its central role, alongside Egypt and the United States, in ongoing mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas” the representatives of the so-called E3 states stated. “We call on the parties to exercise restraint and seize the opportunity for peace.
Wadephul, Barrot and Cooper reiterated their demands for a ceasefire, the release of hostages and the delivery of substantial humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. The statement concluded by condemning “unequivocally” the actions of Hamas.
