Iranian dissident and exile politician Reza Pahlavi was pelted with a tomato during his visit to Berlin on Thursday. Police confirmed that one man has been arrested following the incident.
Pahlavi, who is currently in Berlin for political discussions, had previously addressed questions from the capital’s press during a federal press conference. His schedule includes meetings with deputies from the Bundestag, though the federal government has stated that meetings with high-ranking government officials have not been arranged.
The visit of the deposed Shah of Iran is drawing large demonstrations in the capital. According to police sources, up to 800 officers are deployed and are overseeing multiple gatherings in the Mitte district. While a large number of Pahlavi’s supporters are expected, protests from his opponents have also been announced.
