In the United States, another person has died after being shot by ICE officers. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed on Saturday that a 51‑year‑old man was killed this morning by federal agents and has since passed away. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the victim was armed.
This fatal shooting marks the second such incident in Minneapolis this month. Earlier, on January 7, an ICE agent shot a 37‑year‑old mother of three, an act that sparked nationwide protests. Just a week later, a Venezuelan immigrant was shot in the leg during a targeted traffic stop; he resisted arrest and was taken to the hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries.
Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz called the incident “shocking” and urged an end to aggressive immigration enforcement. He requested that the Trump administration terminate the deployment and withdraw federal officers from Minnesota. Senator Tina Smith also criticized the presence of ICE agents, demanding they be pulled back so local police could secure the scene.
