The co-founder and CEO of Flix, Andre Schwämmlein, has stated he is not interested in becoming the Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Bahn.
Responding to a question regarding whether he had been approached for the position, Schwämmlein told “Welt am Sonntag” that he had not been and furthermore, “would not do it.
The announcement follows Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder’s declaration last Thursday of an intention to prematurely terminate the contract of current Bahn CEO Richard Lutz. Flix is currently investing heavily in its own rail division, Flixtrain, with a commitment to 65 new high-speed trains. The company is widely considered the largest competitor to Deutsche Bahn in long-distance passenger transport.
