Ford Cuts 1,000 Cologne Jobs in New Round of Cuts

Ford is implementing further cost-cutting measures at its Cologne, Germany manufacturing facility, resulting in the reduction of an additional 1,000 positions. The company announced a shift from a two-shift operation to a single-shift system, effective January.

Ford stated that the move is intended to avoid compulsory redundancies. The organization emphasized its commitment to supporting affected employees and will introduce voluntary severance packages. This latest round of adjustments follows prior announcements regarding a broader cost-reduction program at the Cologne plant.

The automaker cited lower-than-anticipated demand for electric vehicles across Europe as a key driver for the workforce reduction. The move reflects a recalibration of production levels in response to evolving market conditions.
