Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig of the SPD is calling for effective relief measures to counteract the high costs of gasoline and natural gas. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” on Saturday, the SPD politician stated that the elevated fuel prices represent a noticeable burden for numerous families and commuters who rely on their cars for daily life. According to Hubig, when travel to work and trips for the Easter holidays become increasingly difficult due to costs, it highlights the urgent need to provide consumers with a solution. She emphasized the necessity of implementing short-term, effective measures, such as a flexible price cap that can prevent extreme fluctuations at the gas pump. Furthermore, she voiced her support for the proposal put forward by Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD), advocating for a clear focus on consumer protection, asserting that mobility must remain reliable and affordable even during challenging times.
