Freeze Russian Assets, Push for Special Tribunal against Russia..

The foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland-who jointly form the Weimar Triangle-restated their stance on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

In a joint editorial for the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” released on Tuesday, Johann Wadephul, Jean‑Noël Barrot and Radosław Sikorski wrote that a lasting and just peace can only be achieved from a position of strength. Consequently, Europe’s commitment to support Ukraine remains unshakable, and the ministers pledged to keep tightening pressure on Moscow.

They specifically called for the continued freezing of billions of euros of Russian assets, reaffirmed backing for Ukraine’s bid to join the EU, and demanded the establishment of a special tribunal to hold war‑criminals accountable.

The trio highlighted how Europe’s response to the conflict has evolved: “After four years of war, it is not only Ukraine that has changed. Europe itself has transformed. It is now stronger, more resilient, and fully recognizes the value of freedom-ready to stand for it”.
