Freiburg Stuns St. Pauli 2‑1: Late Matanović Goals Secure Comeback

Sc Freiburg clinched a 2‑1 win over FC St. Pauli on matchday 27 of the Bundesliga.
St. Pauli took the early lead in the 24th minute when Danel Sinani headed home after a corner, the ball having been flicked past the line by Tomoya Ando. The home side played the first half fresher and managed to outclass the Freiburgers on several occasions.

In the second half, Freiburg found their rhythm and created more chances. In the 65th minute Igor Matanovic orchestrated the equaliser, passing to Vincenzo Grifo whose shot was diverted; Matanovic then steered the ball into the net. Three minutes later he converted a rebound off goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj to seal the victory.

The result leaves Hamburg still entrenched in the 16th position of the relegation zone, while Freiburg remain in eighth place. After the international break, St. Pauli will travel to Union Berlin on 5 April, whereas the Breisgau club will face Bayern the day before.
