Fuel Prices Drop Ahead of Discount Expiration, But High Levels Persist

Fuel prices in Germany have fallen again just one week before the end of the current discount period. According to a recent evaluation by the ADAC, the average price for a liter of Super E10 nationwide currently stands at €1.817, marking a decrease of 3.7 cents compared to the previous week. Diesel prices saw a more substantial drop, falling by 6.6 cents to an average of €1.731.

The ADAC noted that despite these decreases, the overall price level remains high. The fuel discount, which reduces the energy tax by approximately 17 cents per liter, is scheduled to expire at the end of the month.

Globally, the Brent crude oil price was trading around $77 USD, while the Euro has weakened against the US Dollar. While the ADAC suggests there is potential for further price reductions, they caution that once the fuel discount ends, prices for both petrol and diesel are expected to rise by about 17 cents per liter.
