German Cabinet Basks in Strong Team Spirit Under Vice‑Chancellor Klingbeil’s Leadership

The second cabinet meeting, chaired by Vice‑Chancellor Lars Klingbeil (SPD), proceeded without significant deviations from the typical proceedings, the federal government said.

Deputy government spokesperson Steffen Meyer told the dts news agency on Wednesday that the cabinet’s atmosphere is always very focused and marked by a strong team spirit. “That was also the case today” he added. “It was the second cabinet meeting of this legislative period, and Mr Klingbeil led it in a calm and professional manner”. He described the session as “an intensive, professional and collaborative exchange”.

When asked to compare the Chancellor’s leadership style with that of the Vice‑Chancellor, Meyer declined to elaborate. He did, however, emphasize that the working relationship between the Chancellor and the Vice‑Chancellor has fostered a solid foundation of trust over the past year-a foundation he said is crucial for the coalition. “So I think it’s very good that the Federal Chancellor is currently representing German interests in China while the Vice‑Chancellor takes on the cabinet’s work here” Meyer added.
