Data from a survey published by the Allensbach Institute for Demography and reported by the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” shows that Germans are increasingly placing less emphasis on choosing environmentally friendly car models when purchasing a vehicle. Currently, only 15 percent of drivers consider it particularly important that their next car is eco-friendly. This represents a significant decline from 2012, when 27 percent of respondents indicated their desire to purchase an environmentally conscious model. This drop in the importance given to ecological factors is notable, occurring despite the ongoing concerns over climate change and increasing fuel prices.
