German Culture Minister Weimer Plans to Dismiss Berlinale CEO Tricia Tuttle Over Antisemitic Fallout.

It appears that Cultural Minister Wolfram Weimer is reacting to an antisemitic incident that occurred at the Berlinale last weekend. According to the German tabloid Bild in its Thursday edition, Weimer plans to dismiss Tricia Tuttle – the American director of the Berlinale – from her position.

The newspaper claims that the incident involved the director Abdallah Alkhatib, who accused the German government of being “partners of genocide” in the Gaza Strip during the awards ceremony. To address the situation, Weimer has called an extraordinary meeting of the leadership bodies of the “Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH” (KBB) – the entity responsible for the Berlinale – for tomorrow Thursday. The agenda of that meeting will include Tuttle’s removal from her role.
