On the day the so‑called “Austria model” was rolled out, German diesel prices hit a new all‑time high.
From now on, fuel price changes can occur only once a day, at noon. According to ADAC, on Wednesday the price for Super E10 rose by 7.6 cents to €2.175 compared with the price just before 12 p.m., and diesel climbed 7.5 cents to €2.376. The daily average diesel price finished at €2.327-just 0.6 cents above the March 2022 record.
Until now, gasoline was typically most expensive between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. and cheapest between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. With the new rule, the cheapest time to fill up will be right before the sole possible price‑increase at noon. The long‑term effects of this change on prices will become apparent in the coming days.
