German Digital Minister Warns AI Will Rapidly Reshape Germany’s Job Market.

Federal Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger (CDU) warned about the impact of so‑called “artificial intelligence” on Germany’s labour market. “The employment world is changing in a way we only now begin to understand, and the tools of the last thirty years cannot answer that challenge” he wrote in a post in the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” (FAS). “AI will already noticeably change the labour market this year”.

He noted that most program code will now be generated automatically. Intelligent agents will take over customer service, and algorithms will handle routine legal tasks. “It’s not a hard break, but an accelerated shift” Wildberger said. “That is why we must act decisively now and harness AI’s potential for stronger economic growth”.

Wildberger also advocated for greater use of AI in education. The technology can deepen learning and strengthen the very skills that will be most important in coming decades: creativity, resilience, and moral judgment. “The question isn’t whether AI will enter classrooms, but whether we ensure that it serves human development rather than merely mechanical perfection”.
