According to preliminary data released by Destatis, Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, the accommodation sector recorded 48.9 million overnight stays by both domestic and international guests in June 2026. This figure represents a decrease of 2.9 percent compared to June 2025.
Specifically, the number of overnight stays by German guests declined by 3.6 percent to 41.2 million in June 2026. However, stays by foreign guests rose by 1.6 percent, reaching 7.7 million.
Looking at the first half of 2026, the total number of overnight stays reached 223.8 million. This figure is 0.3 percent higher than the same period last year, marking a new record high for the first half of the year, which was previously 223.1 million. Domestic stays during the first half of 2026 increased by 0.3 percent compared to the first half of 2025, totaling 187.4 million. Meanwhile, international stays saw a 0.5 percent rise, amounting to 36.4 million.
