German Foreign Minister Labels Navalny Poisoning a State‑Sponsored Murder, Blames Russia.

After a test confirmed the presence of poison on the body of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) described the killing as a “state‑ordered murder”. “Russia once again shows its dreadful visage” he told RTL/ntv on Saturday.

Wadephul said the United Nations’ international law violations in Ukraine, the bombardment of civilians, and now the apparent murder of Navalny all demonstrate “that all means are at hand, with no regard for morality or law”. He added that it was crucial to speak publicly about the case two years after Navalny’s death, and that further consequences would inevitably follow.

He explained that the case would be handed over to an organization that deals with the prohibition of chemical weapons – the OPCW – where “appropriate measures can be taken”.

Wadephul also emphasized the need for public awareness. He repeatedly urged that “Europe must finally talk to Russia”. First, Europe is ready to speak; second, we must understand the nature of the Russian regime.
