German Fuel Expert Warns of Potential €2.60 Gasoline Prices Amid Hormuz Strait Blockade Threat

Because of the current global situation, trade expert Gerrit Heinemann from the Hochschule Niederrhein warns that gasoline prices in Germany could rise sharply. He told “Bild” that a week‑long blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could push the price to as much as 2.60 € per litre. Within two weeks he predicts that the oil price could climb to at least 120 $, which would lift German petrol to 2.30 € per litre or higher. If the strait were cut off for a month, the price could reach 2.60 € for a litre of E10.

Heinemann also points out the danger for diesel. The current range of 1.70 €-1.90 € per litre could jump to 2.20 € in two weeks, and a four‑week sea blockade might drive the price up to 2.50 €.
