German Fuel Prices Spike to Highest Levels Since 2024 as Rising Crude Costs and Middle East Tensions Converge.

Fuel prices across Germany have climbed to their highest levels since early 2024. According to a recent ADAC survey, the average price for a liter of Super E10 has risen by 1.8 cents to €1.776, while diesel has increased by 2.9 cents to €1.740 per liter.

The ADAC also notes that fears of a new conflict in the Middle East are pushing global oil prices upward. Brent crude, the benchmark for world petroleum, has edged up by roughly $4 per barrel over the past week, now trading just under $71 per barrel.

A key factor affecting the price outlook is the Strait of Hormuz. Until now, oil shipments through the region have continued uninterrupted, and Iranian exports remain strong. However, the situation could change dramatically if a war were to erupt between Iran and the United States.
