German Gamers Spend Nearly 334 Euros Annually on Video Games, Survey Reveals

According to a survey conducted by the IT industry association Bitkom, German gamers spent an average of €334 on computer and video games last year. Among those who spent the most, a group of 25 percent of gamers averaged a much higher total of €781 annually.

The survey provided a detailed breakdown of spending habits. Eight percent of gamers spent less than €100 per year, while the majority-63 percent-spent between €100 and €300. Five percent spent between €300 and €500, and another twelve percent spent between €500 and €1,000. Notably, four percent of gamers who invest more in their hobbies spend upwards of €1,000 per year.

Spending on games tends to decline as gamers age. In the past twelve months, the youngest demographic (16-29 years old) spent an average of €376. This slightly decreased for the 30-49 age bracket at €353, and again for those aged 50-64 at €294. Spending falls significantly for gamers aged 65 and older, who averaged just €168 annually.

To collect these statistics, Bitkom Research conducted phone interviews with 1,205 individuals across Germany, including 663 gamers, during the 20th to 24th calendar weeks of 2026.
