German Government Open Day Draws 100,000 Visitors

The German federal government recently hosted an open house event at the Chancellery and various federal ministries, attracting approximately 100,000 visitors over the weekend. The Federal Press Office released a statement Sunday evening expressing gratitude for the strong public turnout.

The Chancellery proved to be a particular draw, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz engaging directly with citizens’ questions. A children’s press conference, led by government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius, was highlighted by the Federal Press Office as a key event.

Over the two-day period, a range of federal ministers – including Dobrindt, Klingbeil, Wadephul, Wildberger, Alabali Radovan, Hubertz, Prien and Hubig – alongside the Head of the Chancellery, Frei, also made themselves available to speak with the public. According to the Federal Press Office, the significant attendance underscores the importance of dialogue between the government and citizens, particularly during current times of considerable change and uncertainty.
