German Inflation Rises to 2.1% in January 2026, Core Rate Climbs to 2.5% with Services Up 3.2% and Food Prices 2.1% — Energy Prices Fall 1.7% 

The annual rise in consumer prices in Germany picked up again in January 2026.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, the inflation rate is expected to be “2.1 %”, up from “1.8 %” in December. In comparison with the previous month, consumer prices are projected to have increased by “0.1 %” in the first month of the year.

Core inflation-excluding food and energy costs-has slipped from “2.4 %” in December to “2.5 %” in January, still noticeably higher than the headline figure.

Energy prices fell by “1.7 %” year‑on‑year in January. Food price growth was “2.1 %” and service prices rose “3.2 %”.
