The German armed forces (Bundeswehr) have been actively participating in an international humanitarian airlift to the Gaza Strip, conducting five flights since August 1st. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence confirmed the operation to the dts news agency in Berlin on Monday. Two temporarily stationed A400M transport aircraft are currently being utilized for the missions, with another flight scheduled for today.
These five flights have delivered approximately 43 tons of essential supplies via 100 pallets. While the specific composition of the aid remains undisclosed, the spokesperson indicated the cargo includes items such as rice flour and pre-packaged meals, prioritized for rapid distribution.
The airlift is part of a broader international effort coordinated by Jordan aimed at alleviating the acute humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The Ministry of Defence representative emphasized close collaboration with Jordanian partners in determining flight paths, available zones and ground communication protocols with the local population. Operational details regarding these logistics are not being publicly disclosed, with flights dependent on allocated slots. The aid being delivered is provided by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).
