German Officials Praise Munich Security Conference for Transatlantic Strength and EU Defense

The German government judged the Munich Security Conference (MSC) a success. Deputy spokesman Sebastian Hille told dts news agency on Monday in Berlin that the event “once again served as a central forum for trans‑Atlantic exchange of views”. He added that it was encouraging for Germany that the MSC traditionally takes place in Munich.

The government expressed satisfaction with both the proceedings and the discussions. Hille said the focus was on European defence capability, sovereignty, the orientation of trans‑Atlantic relations, the shaping of global partnerships and the continued support for Ukraine.

Regarding the large demonstration against the Iranian regime that took place on the sidelines of the conference, the spokesman acknowledged that it had been “obviously observed”. He described it as a powerful sign from the population and the Iranian diaspora. However, he said he could not report any concrete impact on the MSC.
