The start of the week saw a dip in the Dax. At the close of trading on Xetra, the index registered 26,338 points, marking a decline of 0.4 percent compared to the previous trading day.
Timo Emden, Chief Market Analyst at CapTrader, commented on the German stock market, describing a clear stalemate between bulls and bears. “Investors are nearly alternating between being willing to buy and taking profits on an hourly basis. Warm and cold air masses are colliding on the Frankfurt trading floor. While geopolitical risks and monetary policy uncertainties form a cold front, the anticipation surrounding the summit is providing warm updrafts.”
Notably, investors have shown increased resilience regarding the Iran conflict. Although geopolitical threats continue to make headlines, they no longer exert the toxic influence they did a few months ago in the markets. Emden summarized this development simply, stating, “The bulls and bears are shaking hands.”
In the currency market, the Euro strengthened slightly on Monday afternoon, trading at $1.1584 per Euro. Consequently, the Dollar was priced at 0.8633 Euros.
The price of gold benefited significantly, reaching $4,422 per fine ounce in the afternoon, a gain of 1.1 percent. This translates to a price of 122.74 Euros per gram.
