In light of the persistently strained economic situation, the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) has urged an extension of the electricity subsidies that benefit businesses. DGB board member Stefan Körzell told the “Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung” (noz) that although the industrial electricity price is set to take effect from 2026, companies will only receive the relief retroactively next year. He added that the current support lasts only three years. “It would be better to have a regulation that works immediately and guarantees an internationally competitive electricity price for ten years” Körzell said. “Then our businesses could finally obtain the planning certainty they need”.
