The attack occurred Monday evening on a regional express departing from Landstuhl station toward Homburg. During a routine check, the attendant stopped a passenger who failed to present a valid ticket. When the passenger was told he would be removed from the train, he unexpectedly struck the employee, inflicting life‑threatening wounds that required on‑site resuscitation.
