German Train Attendant Killed After Fare‑Evader Strikes Him During Ticket Check in Kaiserslautern District

After a physical assault at a ticket inspection on a regional express in the Kaiserslautern area, a 36‑year‑old train attendant suffered fatal injuries. The Bild newspaper reported the incident on Wednesday, citing proprietary information.

The attack occurred Monday evening on a regional express departing from Landstuhl station toward Homburg. During a routine check, the attendant stopped a passenger who failed to present a valid ticket. When the passenger was told he would be removed from the train, he unexpectedly struck the employee, inflicting life‑threatening wounds that required on‑site resuscitation.

The 26‑year‑old assailant was apprehended by forces from the Saarland state police and the federal police at the scene. Investigations have been taken over by the Kaiserslautern Criminal Division at the Westpfalz Police Headquarters, and the case remains active.
