German Truck Toll Traffic on Autobahn Rises 0.7% in February, Hinting at Strong Industrial Activity

Truck toll performance for heavy trucks with at least four axles on German autobahns rose 0.7 percent in February 2026 compared with the previous month. When compared with the same month a year earlier, the calendar‑adjusted truck‑toll‑performance index increased 1.5 percent, the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) and the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Monday. Authorities say that truck activity on highways offers early clues about the current state of industrial activity. Because economic activity creates and requires transport services, the statisticians point to a clear link between the truck‑toll‑performance index and other indicators of economic activity, especially the manufacturing production index.
