A spokesman for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs confirmed in Berlin on Wednesday that Israel plans to supply Germany with kerosene and natural gas under an “energy partnership”. During the press briefing, the official stated that constructive talks are underway regarding energy supplies with several countries, including Israel. However, he added that the ministry does not have access to specific details or volumes, as these amounts are being negotiated directly between the relevant companies.
While there are currently no physical shortages regarding the supply of kerosene in Germany, the ministry emphasized that the situation remains under intense observation, and the government maintains constant dialogue with the industry sector. The overall strategy of the federal government is to continuously diversify the sources for gas and oil products, with the responsibility for concluding contracts resting with private companies, while the Ministry steps in to assist these efforts.
Furthermore, although a kerosene shortage is not presently occurring, Germany is actively preparing for potential future crises, particularly due to the volatile situation in the Gulf region. The spokesman noted that while partial releases of raw oil products from reserves have taken place, not all allocated quantities were absorbed. These remaining stocks are expected to be offered in a subsequent round of negotiations.
