The German Federal Government expects that there will be no kerosene shortages for flights during the early summer months. Christoph Ploß, the government’s Tourism Coordinator (CDU), told the “Rheinische Post” that the supply of kerosene for all German tourists is secured until at least the end of June.
Furthermore, there is currently no indication that kerosene supplies will run out at German airports in the weeks after June. Despite the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, issues with supply are being averted due to increased production at both German and international refineries, coupled with additional imports into Germany.
Ploß noted that should the supply situation deteriorate, there are measures in place to respond. He added that they are in continuous dialogue with airlines, as well as the travel and energy industries. The aviation sector had previously reassured the public that there would be no kerosene shortage throughout the summer.
