Germany Demands Hamas Hostage Release

The German Bundestag President, Julia Klöckner, has reiterated the urgent call for the release of hostages held by Hamas, emphasizing the ongoing plight of German and German-Israeli citizens among them.

Speaking after a meeting with relatives of individuals still being held captive in the Gaza Strip, Klöckner stated that seven German and German-Israeli nationals remain in Hamas captivity. She underscored the responsibility of the German government to consistently highlight this situation and actively work towards their release.

“The suffering endured by these families for nearly two years is deeply concerning” Klöckner commented, describing the accounts shared with her regarding the health conditions of their children, siblings, or nieces as “shocking”. She affirmed that the demand from the German Bundestag to Hamas remains unwavering: the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining Israeli hostages.
