Germany Extends Affordable Travel Ticket

The German government intends to maintain the Deutschlandticket program and is earmarking €1.5 billion in funding for it next year. This commitment is outlined in a draft amendment to the Regionalisation Act, as reported by Politico.

According to the draft document, the Deutschlandticket, originally anchored in the coalition agreement, will be extended beyond 2025 to include 2026. The plan stipulates that both the federal government and the individual states will contribute €1.5 billion each to finance the Deutschlandticket in 2026. This ongoing financial support ensures the program’s continuation and accessibility for users.
