The German government has postponed a cabinet decision regarding planned reforms to the healthcare system, acknowledging a lack of consensus on the specifics.
Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU) stated that while efforts were made to meet the planned timeline to provide clarity for the federal states, further internal discussions within the governing coalition are now necessary. She explained that the ambition of the initial timeline proved challenging.
Warken emphasized that fundamental disagreements with the coalition partner, the SPD, are not present. There is agreement on the necessity of healthcare reform, as well as acknowledgment of the need for further refinements. The government is now focused on implementing the commitments outlined in the coalition agreement, a process which has broad support.
