Germany Inflation Rises to 2.2% in August 2025

Germany’s annual rate of consumer price increase accelerated again in August 2025, according to data released Friday by the Federal Statistical Office.

The inflation rate is projected to reach 2.2 percent, up from 2.0 percent in the previous month. Month-on-month, consumer prices are estimated to have risen by 0.1 percent in the eighth month of the year.

Notably, the core inflation rate – which excludes food and energy prices – is projected to remain at 2.7 percent. This figure continues to significantly exceed the overall index.

Energy prices were again lower year-on-year in August, decreasing by 2.4 percent. Food prices registered a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent, while the price of services rose by 3.1 percent.
