Germany Lowers Severe Weather Alerts, Maintains Snowfall Warnings Across North and Central Regions

At midday on Monday, the German Weather Service (DWD) lifted all official severe‑weather warnings for black ice and heavy snowfall.
Nevertheless, it continues to issue alerts for lighter snow across a strip running from Schleswig‑Holstein and western Lower Saxony through parts of North Rhine‑Westphalia and Hesse, extending all the way to eastern Bavaria.

The snow showers surrounding the low‑pressure system “Leonie” now located just south of Berlin, have weakened enough that further severe‑weather warnings are unnecessary. However, precipitation will still fall relatively heavily in some regions through the night, notably in parts of Franconia, the neighbouring areas of Hesse, and Ostholstein.
