Germany Poland Border Control Blitz

Following Poland’s announcement of border checks at its frontier with Germany, commencing Monday, the German government has stated its intention to closely coordinate with the Polish side.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) conveyed to his Polish counterpart that the goal is to “implement the border controls jointly” along the German-Polish border, according to a ministry spokesperson in Berlin on Wednesday. The spokesperson added that Germany would also conduct controls “to 100 percent jointly on the German side, as we are in close cooperation there.

The German government emphasized ongoing dialogue with the Polish government regarding the border measures. When asked about the Polish response to the offer of joint control implementation, the spokesperson indicated that “constant exchange” is taking place. They confirmed that the Polish side has announced its measures, which currently represent the current situation.
