The withdrawal of former Deutsche Bahn manager Dirk Rompf from consideration for the leadership role at Infrago, the infrastructure division, has been described as a consistent decision, while simultaneously raising questions about the suitability of Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU).
Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” railway expert Matthias Gastel stated that managers associated with past shortcomings, such as infrastructure neglect, are ill-suited for future responsibilities. However, he further questioned the fitness of the Minister himself, pointing to a perceived lack of coordination and communication.
Gastel argued that the situation has created unnecessary insecurity and unrest within Deutsche Bahn. He expressed concern that the Minister’s demonstrated inability to communicate effectively will also hinder the successful implementation of future plans. The events have highlighted potential issues regarding oversight and internal decision-making processes within the national rail organization.
