Germany is preparing to resume its program for the admission of Afghan nationals next week, with the first arrivals scheduled for Monday. Sources within the German government indicate the individuals will travel from Islamabad, Pakistan, with a layover in Istanbul, before landing in Hannover.
Approximately 50 people, including women and children, are expected on this initial flight. A significant portion – nearly a dozen – are Afghans who previously worked alongside the German Armed Forces during their deployment in Afghanistan, or are considered at risk due to their engagement opposing the Taliban regime. The remainder of those traveling are family members of these primary applicants.
These individuals represent a fraction of the approximately 2,300 people currently in Pakistan who have received preliminary acceptance for relocation to Germany.
German security officials confirm there are currently no security concerns regarding the individuals on the passenger manifest for Monday’s flight. All passengers have undergone comprehensive security vetting, including identity and document verification by federal police, as well as detailed security interviews conducted by German security authorities at the German Embassy in Islamabad. Each case received individual assessment to ensure thorough scrutiny.
